RELAX AND REVIVE BATH SALTS AND FOOT SOAK

Bath salts are water-soluble, pulverized minerals that are added to water to be used for bathing. They are said to improve cleaning, enhance the enjoyment of bathing, and serve as a vehicle for cosmetic agents.[1] Bath salts have been developed which mimic the properties of natural mineral baths or hot springs.

These are bath salts made from naturally occurring minerals and salts and not lab made chemicals which i was surprised to find when i google bath salts .

The most common ingredients used in bath salts:

Epsom salts, Sea salts, Himalayan Pink salts, Natural Clays, Mild Surfactants for foaming and Essential Oils.

Benefits of Epsom salts:

Epsom salt was named for a bitter saline spring at Epsom in Surrey, England. It is one of many naturally occurring mineral salts, a compound of magnesium and sulphate.

Epsom salt helps stabilize mood and relieve stress, anxiety and depression. In fact, some researchers claim that taking magnesium increases serotonin (happiness or relaxation hormone) production in the brain.

Epsom salt helps relax muscles and relieve pain in the shoulders, neck, back and skull. For example, by relaxing the muscles surrounding the skull, the magnesium in Epsom salt may help release a headache or migraine.

Some researchers also think that magnesium is good for reducing inflammation in internal organs. This may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and improve digestion/bowel movement. Integrative medical experts commonly recommend Epsom salt to patients with chronic fatigue syndrome and cold intolerance.

Benefits of Sea salt:

Sea salt helps cleanse the pores on your skin, while balancing oil production and retaining moisture from within. Its anti-bacterial properties discourage the growth of bacteria responsible for breakouts and acne.

Sea salt not only saps off excess oil from the skin, but also provides the right amount of hydration. Using salt in masks helps balance oil production and hydrates even the deep layers of the skin.

Sea salt forms an excellent scrub for the entire body. Salt is a gentle and natural exfoliator that sloughs off dead skin cells, revealing smooth and fresh skin. The mineral contents soften the skin, adding a healthy glow.

Being good at absorption, sea salt acts as a natural detoxifier. Dampen your face and apply a thin layer of sea salt. As it dries, the sea salt absorbs the toxins from the skin.

Soaking in sea salt bath can help ease tensed muscles.

Benefits of Oat meal in Baths:

Since ancient Roman times, people have been using oatmeal for skin care. Today, special oatmeal formulations are used in a variety of skin care products, from lotions to bath soaps.

Oatmeal contains compounds that have anti-inflammatory and moisture-retaining properties.

In 1945, colloidal oatmeal compounds started becoming more widely available for treating skin conditions, according to the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology.

Colloidal oatmeal is the oatmeal preparation that’s commonly used in lotions as well as for baths. Specifically, it’s oatmeal that’s been finely ground or chopped and suspended in liquid.

Colloidal oatmeal has both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This is thanks in large part to the presence of compounds that include vitamin E, ferulic acid, and aventhramides. The Journal of Drugs in Dermatology reports that aventhramides are the main antioxidant in oats.

Even in small amounts, the compounds found in colloidal oatmeal inhibit tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-8 release, which have been associated with conditions like psoriasis. These compounds also reduce itching.

In addition to these compounds, colloidal oatmeal contains starches and beta-glucan. These are naturally present in oats. They help to hold in water, which enhances the moisturizing abilities of oats.

Colloidal oatmeal also contains water-binding polysaccharides, which are a form of sugar, as well as compounds called hydrocolloids. These compounds also create a protective barrier to keep the skin from losing excess water.

Other benefits of colloidal oatmeal include:

  • acting as a buffering agent, which helps skin maintain a normal pH
  • providing antiviral activity, such as helping treat molluscum contagious skin rashes
  • reducing the rate of histamine release in mast cells, which are present in allergic skin reactions
  • cleansing the skin, thanks to the presence of saponins that have soap-like activity

Colloidal oatmeal is a natural solution to many health concerns. For example, a 2012 study showed that colloidal oatmeal helped to reduce the use of corticosteroid and calcineurin inhibitors in patients with atopic dermatitis.

Benefits of Rhassoul clay:

Rhassoul acts on the skin's surface and removes excess dirt and sebum, allowing your pores to breathe. That means that you'll see a reduction in acne, blackheads and pimples. Exfoliant and clarifier – The mineral composition of rhassoul clay helps to reduce skin dryness and improve skin clarity.

Rhassoul clay has been around for over 1400 years. It was formed under the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Its name means “the mountain of the washer” in Arabic. Women living in those areas have long prized its protective, regenerative, and healing properties.

After mining, the clay is poured on the ground for drying. This exposes it to the sun and desert breezes, which enhance its healing power. Once dried, it's refined and micronized. It can be used as a pure clay mask, body wrap, shampoo, skin conditioner, or soap.

Over the centuries, this natural clay made its way in Asia, Europe, and other parts of the world. The Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians used it to cleanse their skin and slow down ageing.

Compared to other clays, Rhassoul contains larger amounts of calcium, potassium, magnesium, silica, and trace minerals. It also boasts a higher absorption rate, which makes it ideal for detox and cleansing. Its active compounds are quickly absorbed into the skin, leaving it soft and smooth.

Research shows that a single use of Rhassoul clay can improve skin firmness by a whopping 24 per cent and skin clarity by 68 per cent. This toxin-free skincare product reduces dryness by as much as 79 per cent and flakiness by 41 per cent. When applied to the skin, it removes dead cells and excess sebum, which are major contributors to acne.

This all-natural clay is a healthier alternative to soap, facial scrubs, and hair care products. Due to its fine texture, it's an excellent pure clay mask and matches all skin types. On top of that, it's free of additives, preservatives, phthalates, and other chemicals found in traditional skin and hair products.

BENEFITS OF BATH SOAK FOR SKIN AND FEET:

Submerging our bodies into a bath filled with warm water and salt is proven to be one of the best ways to restore ourselves after a long day. This health-promoting ritual soothes the muscles, hydrates the skin, detoxifies the body, and relieves internal swelling. The macro and trace minerals found in salts are necessary for our health and can actually be drawn into the bloodstream during a warm bath, which can help to balance out the entire body. The best versions have added benefits from natural sources, such as essential oils and earth-given minerals that can maximize results. This magic combination works to synergistically cure our internal ailments and nourish our bodies. Whether we’re seeking silkier skin, a better night’s sleep, or a little detoxification—bath salts can play such a beneficial role within our day-to-day routine.

Here are a few of our favorite reasons to start incorporating bath salts:

Moisturizes the skin
Soaking in a warm salt solution, even just once a week for 15-20 minutes, offers great benefits in terms of improving the skin barrier function, hydrating the skin, and decreasing inflammation. Studies even show that people suffering from skin issues, such as psoriasis or eczema, can improve their condition with regular salt bathing. The minerals found within a salty soak also work to promote more youthful, glowing skin from the inside out by purging impurities from the skin and balancing skin moisture levels.

Decreases stress
Spending time soaking in a warm bath with the right concentration of bath salts can help to increase overall circulation throughout the body, which in turn works to further relax our internal systems. Along with eliminating stress, bath salts help to soothe our muscular systems and aid in both mental and physical rejuvenation. A warm bath is perfect for helping us relax when we’re tense or anxious.

Helps insomnia
Research states that 6 out of 10 Americans suffer from insomnia. Nutritionally speaking, salt baths can play a role in encouraging better sleep patterns. Taking baths with magnesium-rich salts allows our bodies to absorb the mineral through the skin, which in turn assists our bodies in getting a good night’s sleep.

Offers vital healing properties
Studies show that regular salt soaks can work to promote our most optimum level of biological and cellular function. This ritual can also aid internal hydration while helping to replenish the body’s electrolytes. Soaking in a salt bath also helps to improve our overall immunity and balance our alkaline / acid levels. These salty soaks remove toxins from the bloodstream, with their intensive detoxification properties. Additional benefits include regulating blood sugar, improving cardiovascular health, and boosting circulatory and nerve function.

Soothes pain
Soaking in warm water with added bath salts can help to ease various types of pain by taking weight off of the joints and muscles. The act also helps our bodies to heal faster after injury or surgery, as salt offers exceptional natural healing properties. With chronic pain, nourishing salt baths have been proven highly effective in treating various issues including rheumatoid arthritis. The magnesium-rich salt can help to relieve muscle spasms and menstrual cramps as well.

Foot soak benefits:

foot soak soothes your muscles, hydrates your skin, and can relieve aches and pains due to standing for hours or walking in uncomfortable shoes. Plus, letting your feet sit in their own bath can help reduce swelling and prevent bacteria from settling into blisters and cuts or under toe nails.

Immersing your feet in a tub of warm water, even without anything extra in it, is a nice way to relax after a long day. A foot soak soothes your muscles, hydrates your skin, and can relieve aches and pains due to standing for hours or walking in uncomfortable shoes. Plus, letting your feet sit in their own bath can help reduce swelling and prevent bacteria from settling into blisters and cuts or under toe nails.

And while a little rough skin helps protect our feet, if you’re prone to developing thick calluses, softening them in a soak makes them easier to exfoliate – precisely the reason why most pedicures begin by submerging your feet into warm water.

There are some additions, however, that can enhance your healing foot soak. Consider these options when caring for your hard-working feet:

EPSOM SALT FOOT SOAKS
A combination of magnesium and sulphate, Epsom salt is a compound that can help flush toxins and heavy metals from your skin’s cells, reduce inflammation, increase circulation and ease muscle cramps and joint pain.

As your feet absorb the magnesium, pain-reducing ions are released, relaxing your muscles and nerves and helping them function properly by regulating your electrolyte levels. The sulphate targets any harmful substances that need to be eliminated from your body. Epsom salt can also quell foot odour, help heal fungus or ingrown nails, and soothe dry skin.

You’ll find this healing salt at most drug stores and pharmacies. In a standard size tub, dissolve one cup of Epsom salt in warm water and soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes.
